The Gospel
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
— Romans 10:9-10
Do you know for sure that you will go to Heaven when you die?
That if thou… “Thou” simply means you as an individual. You alone must come before a holy God, admitting your sin of breaking His commandments. The word “if” means that a deliberate choice must be made on your part to accept or to reject what God has to say to you.
Shalt confess with thy mouth… “Confess” means to make a statement of truth. This statement must be made with your own mouth, out loud to God, and to the world in which you live.
This confession is that you are giving the ownership of your life to the only One who can save you from your sin.
The Lord Jesus...“The” means the only one. “Lord” means ownership. “Jesus” means “Salvation is of God”. In making this confession, “The LORD Jesus” you surrender your life to the ownership and direction of Jesus Christ who alone can save you.
And shalt believe in thine heart…To believe in one’s heart is to believe with your very being. It is not just a mental acknowledgement nor simply a religious ritual. No church can save you. No priest or pastor can save you. No amount of works or money can save you.
God raised him from the dead...To believe this is to believe the story of Jesus in the Bible is true. You must believe that Jesus is the only Son of God, born of Mary without an earthly father. You must believe that Jesus lived a sinless life, willingly laid down His life to pay for your sin, and rose again on the third day.
Thou shalt be saved. God promises if you will come to Him as a sinner and confess The Lord Jesus, calling upon Him from your heart as you believe that He died and rose again for you,
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Though this begins in your heart between God and you alone, it must then be made public by confessing that you have trusted Christ for your salvation. If you have confessed The Lord Jesus, please let us know by joining us for a service soon!
